Lt. Ethan W. Allen Biography-1
Lt. Ethan Warren Allen -- 1930s / WW2 Naval Aviator --
Lt. Ethan Warren Allen (1903–1971) was a decorated US Navy aviator and trainer from 1930s through WW2. He was a 1927 graduate of the Naval Academy, and became a skilled aircraft carrier pilot during the 1930s, flying everything from Curtis Seagulls and Martin T4M Torpedo bombers to Grumman Hellcats. In 1941, Allen became a Commanding Officer at the Corpus Christi (TX) Naval Air Station, responsible for running a pre-flight training program. In May 1942, Lt. Commander Allen was presented with a Mido MultiFort wristwatch by his Squadron 11-B graduating trainees. The watch is engraved, “Lt. E. W. Allen ~ Sqd. 11-B Crew ~ May 1942”. Allen completed his Navy career in 1947 while stationed at San Francisco’s Treasure Island Naval Base, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander.
?? Was Ethan Allen's son the California Zodiac Serial Killer ??
"Between Dec 1968 and Oct 1969, a hooded serial killer called Zodiac terrorized San Francisco. Claiming responsibility for thirty-seven murders, he manipulated the media with warnings, dares, and bizarre cryptograms that baffled FBI code-breakers.
As part of my Internet research in Lt. Commander Allen, I began to notice references to California’s notorious 1960s Zodiac serial killer. Why? His oldest son, Arthur Leigh Allen (1933-1992), had been identified for many years as the primary Zodiac suspect. Author Robert Graysmith’s Zodiac Unmasked book was a 500 page tome exploring every aspect of the case:
"After painstaking investigation and more than thirty years of research, Robert Graysmith finally exposes Zodiac’s true identity – Arthur Leigh Allen. With overwhelming evidence he reveals the twisted private life that led to the crimes, and provides startling theories as to why they stopped. America’s greatest unsolved mystery has finally been solved."
However, Arthur Leigh Allen died of natural causes before any formal indictment; many others have questioned Graysmith's conclusions.
