Captain William McKenzie's Omega Seamaster Album 1
1956 OMEGA Seamaster
Lt. Cmdr McKenzie’s 1956 Omega Seamaster is a classic Seamaster 35mm with an automatic rotor movement. It features a gold bezel and a stainless steel case back. The stunning black dial vintage Omega dial has applied indices hour markers, gilt minute and hour hands, and a central sweeping second hand. The dial is in gorgeous, unrestored, original vintage condition. The original Omega crown is marked with the Greek omega symbol.
The case back outer is completely smooth, with the wording “Seamaster, Waterproof” stated around its outer sloped edges, with the inscription “LCDR ~ Bill McKenzie ~ USS ~ Greenfish ~ SS351”. (Later watches, manufactured from approximately 1958 onwards, feature the distinctive raised Seamaster seahorse emblem).
The Omega cost $150 in 1956 – equivalent to about $1,500 in 2020.
